The Salem Fitness Center has a membership base of nearly 300 people that exercise in the cardio room, weight room or take group exercise classes. Last year there were over 18,500 visits to the Fitness Center @ the Armory. The Salem Fitness Center offers many services and classes at reasonable membership dues.
Its goal is to help change behavior, improve quality of life, and affect change in the health of the community. Enrollment is open to adults age 18 and older as well as minors accompanied by legal parent/guardian. This allows access to the entire facility. To keep costs low Salem Fitness Center is staffed primarily by volunteers. They are trained in CPR and in the use of the equipment. With a plan of regular exercise, you can cut your risk for cardiovascular disease, reduce stress and inches, and increase your overall fitness.
The Cardio Room has treadmills equipped with Cardio Theatre, elliptical trainers, a stair climber, rowing machine, Nu-steps and recumbent bikes. The Fitness Room contains upper body equipment, free weights, lower body and ab equipment. The Aerobics Room is set up for group exercise classes and aerobics classes with a state of the art sound system.

The Salem Community Center @ the Armory will continue to house the Salem TCRC (The Community Resource Center). Since opening in the fall of 2000, the Salem TCRC programs and events have numbered over 9,000 with nearly 85,500 participants. With the addition of meeting space, even more educational events can be held.

The City of Salem youth sports programs will continue to be held @ the Armory. With the creation of after-school programs and summer youth programs, the Salem Community Center will continue to be a space for youth activities.
